Project Description Feedback Control of Ball and Beam System Problem Statement: Design a control system to move a ball from one position on a beam of a given length to any other position on the beam with in a finite amount of time. The system schematic is given below. The output gear is connected to a DC servo system. The mathematical properties of the system have been computed using an ideal frictionless model. From these equations a basic control system was developed. Our portion of this design is to compute values to make the system stable and perform within the bounds and standards given. Objectives for the Control System: The control system to be designed must allow the ball to move from any point on the beam to any other point on the beam.
