Alysse Johnson St. John Fisher Personal Statement I chose to be an accounting major for all the opportunities I knew that it would lead to. After looking at many colleges, I found the one that was right for me and my education goals. Accounting has proven to be a difficult but rewarding major for my ultimate career goals. I also have obtained a minor in studio art, which allows me to look at situations differently than others in the accounting department. I feel this combination is one that others should try because accounting and art have allowed me to see the logical connections between the world and financial statements as well as using creative ways to remember these connections. Also having a medium besides accounting to think about has made it possible for me to have open and continuous conversations with interviewers and previous clients, which is a very important trait in accounting. I have been able to experience great things and new places in the past four years. I traveled to San Salvador to study the religion and culture there for the summer. That was one of the most eye opening experiences of my life, being able to see the poverty and the hope that never dies in people. Then I traveled to Southern Italy for two weeks for a photography class. I was able to study art and make some of my own while I was there. Recently, I was able to attain an internship at GEICO; this was a summer leadership program where I learned much about being a leader, managing a team, and presenting ideas to the regional managers of GEICO. I believe these experiences will aid me in the future; they also showed me that I wanted to further my education to achieve an MBA with a concentration in accounting. St. John Fisher College has great educational programs, a great location, and great professors. My goal for my future graduate program is to achieve an MBA in accounting at St. John Fisher. During this time I would also like to sit for the CPA exam, so that when I graduate

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
