Tips for succeeding in Stat 225 1) Attend ALL classes 2) Look at homework when it is posted. Begin working the problems at least 3 or 4 days in advance. Ask questions. The homework is crucial to understanding the topics in this course. It is also essential to doing well on the Friday quizzes. Ways to ask questions: by e-mail, in class, during office hours (of any T.A. not just your teacher). I would strongly recommend having the homework completed by Wednesday’s class with the exception of perhaps a problem or two that you have unresolved questions. Then, ask your question in Wednesday’s class. Then Thursday, you can review your homework in order to study for the quiz. 3) Read the lecture material presented before attending that lecture. Example: Suppose Wednesday’s class pertains to sections 2.1 and 2.2, you should read both of these sections before class and/or any material your instructor has posted/provided for this section. 4) Briefly review your lecture notes after class to make sure you understand them.
