UMCAL BASICS GENERAL USER INFORMATION 1 Using UMCal – General User Information UMCal is a tailored version of the calendaring portion of the Oracle Collaboration Suite. UMCal is a fully customizable application that contains a wealth of personal information management features such as: ± a calendar for keeping track of your daily activities ± powerful group and resource capabilities ± an address book for maintaining your contacts UMCal can be used on nearly any computer using any of a number of different interfaces: ± Via the internet —UMCal can be used with most modern web browsers ± On a desktop computer – there are clients available to Macintosh, Windows and Linux ± On your handheld – sync tools exist for both Palm based devices and PocketPC devices UMCal is an enterprise wide tool that bridges all of the coordinated campuses so that scheduling and collaboration can occur among colleagues at Crookston, Morris, Duluth and Twin Cities campuses. UMCal is currently available to all faculty and staff. The University as a whole has a site license for the software that can be freely downloaded. There is a common interface to UMCal, so the look, feel and behavior is consistent no matter how you access it. ADCS, through the auspices of the Office of Information Technology has committed its vast resources to supporting UMCal. There are installation, Chapter 1
