Evolution and ecology occur to every life on earth including bacteria Evolution- inherited changes over time - 3 important words o inherited- inherit DNA from parents. In DNA are encoded proteins that produce traits DNA- double helix, two strands Inside, 4 nucleotides: CTAG In this long string of DNA, in there are discrete genes We all have the same number of genes- if not, you’re dead These genes encode proteins proteins are everything your body is made out of; going to tell you your hair color, skin color, sizes of things 10 different variations of genes for height o change- changes in DNA sequences which affect gene sequence, which affects the proteins mutation- change in nucleotide sequence o time- from generations to thousands of years to millions of years History 1. Middle Ages (5 th -14 th century) a. People /all organisms on earth was organized a.i. “ladder of life” a.ii. God = on top of ladder of life a.ii.1. Humans just below God a.ii.2.
