Mr. Schumacher, Sociology Period 2 5 March 2010 A Night at the Movies Plan of Action: Our plan for altering the social norm was to go to the movies on a crowded Friday night to a new and popular show and talk on our cell phones the whole time. We are planning on going to the movie “Valentine’s Day” because it is said to be very popular. We will sit on two opposite sides of the theatre and be on our cell phones talking loudly all throughout the commercials. Then we will hang up right as the movie starts so that everyone can get settled. About ten minutes into the movie both of our alarms will go off extremely loudly and that will be our cue to call each other. We are going to be on two opposite sides of the theatre talking to each other and discussing every moment of the movie with each other as it happens. The social norm is to put your cell phone on silent so that you will not interrupt anyone’s focus on the movie. Unfortunately for these movie goers, we are prepared to break this social norm.
