Harpreet Singh English 101 Hazel Cooper-watts November 11, 2011 Project plan How has text messaging made a negative impact on our generation’s communication skills? Our younger generation uses text messaging as a main form of communication which has been making a negative impact on their verbal communication and writing skills. Verbal skills are important when it comes to having interviews for colleges or jobs . Forgetting how to communicate in that way is a major disadvantage for this generation. Writing skills are just as, if not more, important than verbal. Text messaging encourages the use of “short-hand”, making it normal and acceptable to misspell words. Those who frequently send text messages become accustomed to the misspellings and shortening of words, which carries over into their writing elsewhere, such as school essays or job applications. The audience to this research projects includes almost everyone in the world. Technology has become a big part of life and impacts
