Adrian Gil 1/31/2011 1. Many applicants to college are unsure about eventual majors. What factors led you to an interest in the field of science you have selected? Ever since my first encounter with chemistry in tenth grade, I immediately fell in love with it. It was amazing to me how many different things one can do with the knowledge attained in chemistry class. I was able to create blinding light, turn a penny gold in color, and mix liquids to create a solid. I greatly enjoyed the class in tenth grade and decided to take AP Chemistry my senior year. While it is much more difficult now than it was then, I still find chemistry fascinating. I read my book even when the teacher does not assign readings for certain chapters and am overjoyed when I feel that I completely mastered a concept. This is why I am interested in Chemistry. 2. What experiences beyond school work have broadened your interest in this field?
