Keep practicing Lacrosse By Adrian Gil I don’t know what it is, But I distrust myself when I make a an attempt at a goal A lot. It makes me nervous. I don’t execute the right moves Or perhaps I stop To think, Remember, Compute What I am doing. If I wind back to add power to my throw And I end up dropping the ball I start to think: is this really my sport? In other words I begin to think I suck. A friend of mine once said, “It’s twenty times better to drop the ball In practice Than in a real game.” I think he’s right and besides, I have to perfect my skills eventually, get hard shots out And have them fly past the goalie. Practice is the place to take care of it. BUT If a friend distrusts himself a lot And starts getting real nervous And suddenly begins to do the wrong moves And looks as if he just wants to give up on the sport And does things like, Winding back to take a shot, But drops the ball instead And he just stands there Wondering if that really is his sport And looks a little sad
