“I have a picture of you where you are in the front of the class, and all the people in the room are looking up at you.” This was told to me by my advisory teacher. In my UCSD EAOP class I was the assistant teacher from the beginning of the year to December 17 th . My tasks were to organize special event in the classroom, help communications between the students and the teacher, and lead the class every other Friday. In the end, instead of this experience influencing my goals, what seemed to happen was that my goals were influencing this experience. The first task involved things like birthday planning and holiday parties. I was in charge of making sure that the class did not forget anyone’s birthday and that we made sure to celebrate each one. This was one of my easiest tasks because I simply had to keep my eye on the calendar and make sure to know when everyone’s birthday was. Then along with this task came holiday planning. This was a little more complicated but was still fairly easy. For this task I had to help plan how we would decorate the room and what activity we would do on the holiday itself. I had to make sure that whatever activity we decided on doing would be okay with the school administration and if it conflicted with the rules I had to formally ask permission in order to
