Mitchell Levin MGT 300 Professor Westring May 31, 2011 Extra-Credit Journal Assignment – The Last Lecture When I began reading this book, I realized it was a written extension of one the online lectures we watched during one of the classes. I searched on youtube “Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture” and came across his lecture that the book was based off. The book talked about Randy’s diagnosis of cancer and how he only had 3-6 months to live. Instead of sulking his remaining time on this planet, he decided to achieve his childhood dreams, adult dreams, and to help others achieve their dreams. It was one of my favorite books to read because it all the stories Randy told made me want to cry. Randy had a lot of different philosophies in life in his book, but the one that stood out to me was his take on “brick walls of life”. He talks about how the “brick walls” aren’t meant to stop anybody, but to challenge ourselves to achieve what we think are impossible things to achieve. He then writes about the brick walls he overcame in life. There were many
