Journal Entry 5 Saturday, November 24 th and Saturday, December 1 st 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM My ninth week of my service project was review for the test on my last week of my service project . My ninth week, I had to review everything the kids learned so far. I had to see if the kids remember their kicking combination, blocks combination, and their belt forms . This consumed most of the class period. After I was done, I taught the kids their Korean terminology . This was the most difficult part because it’s hard for three year olds to remember words that they never heard of or pronounce . It was a little frustrating because I went over one word for about 10 minutes before they finally memorized it

Unformatted text preview: . My last week of my service project was the belt testing . The instructor and I had to make a speech in front of the students and their parents . I didnt really like it because I hate public speaking . Finally the test began; I got to be a judge. I enjoyed it because I never was a judge . I would say almost everyone passed except one or two kids had to re-test . I felt great because these kids were so happy finally passing and getting their belts. Working ten weeks with these kids made me think of the functionalist perspective of the family being universal . Even though I am not related to any of the kids, I felt like I made a bond with a few of them ....
