Writing Assignment 1 Practice SM122 Spring 2009 Every year Fortune Magazine publishes a list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.” To arrive at the list of the 100 most desirable employers, researchers measure several factors including the following: job turnover the number of applicants for positions with the company employee diversity pay benefits professional training opportunities work-life balance Fortune presents a brief description of each company it lists in the top 100 including features such as decision making models within the company, intra-company communications models, and perks or benefits that employees note as especially attractive. For example, some companies offer financial support for families adopting children or pay 100% of health insurance costs. Some companies offer flex time (employees may choose their own working hours) or allow employees to telecommute (work from home). Some companies provide well-stocked kitchenettes where workers can get coffee, cold drinks, and snacks at no charge. Others have
