PART CYamaha’s Code of ConductYamaha Music Australia is a subsidiary of the Yamaha Corporation, the world’s biggest musical product manufacturer. Yamaha Music Australia is the leading wholesaler of musical instruments, music related equipment, home entertainment products and provider of music education in Australia. The company also branches into the manufacturing, importing and selling of consumer electronics (Corporate Informationn.d.). There are an estimated 80 employees dispersed across the nation with head office located in South Melbourne (IndustryMarket Research, Reports, and Statisticsn.d.). The code of conduct can be found by navigating to the Yamaha Compliance Code of Conductpage. (Yamaha Compliance Code of Conductn.d.) It is broken into 9 sections, with each section addressing different areas of coverage in the business. The Code of Conduct offers specific examples of actions and behaviour that are to act as guidelines for the company. The code applies to predominantly the actions and behaviours of its employees. See the section headings below.1.Relationship with Customers2.Relationship with Shareholders and Investors3.Relationship with Employees4.Relationship with Society5.Relationship with Business Partners6.Relationship with Competitors7.Relationship with Administration and Politicians8.Compliance in International Transactions9.Yamaha Employees' Code of ConductACS and Yamaha Code ComparisonThe ACS is as stated; “is aimed specifically at you as an individual practitioner and is intended as a guideline for your acceptable professional conduct. It is applicable to all ACS members regardless of their role or specific area of expertise in the ICT industry.” (Low & Johnson 2014)The intention behind the ACS Code of Ethics is to ensure and upkeep professionalism, maintain a reputable standard of the industry, promote the development of the profession and protect stakeholders from undesirable behaviour. Yamaha’s Code of Conduct similarly is aimed at the employees of Yamaha with the purpose of complying with legal requirements, internal codes, conforming to business ethics and social norms whilst providing employees anopen and fair attitude with regards to stakeholders. It is worth mentioning here that the strongemphasis placed on developing the profession that is seen within the ACS Code of Professional Conduct is obviously lacking throughout the Yamaha Code. The ACS Code establishes that as well as being a good citizen and acting within the law, members must adhere to six hallmark values. (Code of Ethics n.d.) These core values are thenexplored and deconstructed further in the ACS Code of Professional Conduct document (Low
& Johnson 2014) Yamaha approaches its Code a little differently. Yamaha offers specific examples of actions and behaviour in order to establish their ethical standards. Yamaha go about dividing their code into a relationship basis eg. Relationship with Customers, relationship with competitors etc. This really highlights a major difference between the two
