Unformatted text preview: I think Jerome Beckers idea to bring in the completed story from the school in southern India into his sixth grade classroom is a great idea to show how the world unites after such a horrible tragedy. Becker relates what happened by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon with the increase in vandalism, fighting, violence, and anger in and out of the classroom. Hatred was becoming a common problem in Beckers classroom because students were pointing anger and resentment on students and community members of Arab and Muslim ethnicity. Beckers goal of this story was to show that students should not discriminate against these races just because of the terrorist attack. He was trying to show his students that they need to accept and realize that just because some people are of a certain ethnicity, doesnt mean that they all have the same believes and were a part of the attack.
