Definition (Estimator and Estimate) Estimate refers to the value(s) assigned to a population parameter based on a corresponding sample statistic. Estimator is the sample statistic used to estimate the population parameter. Mann E6 2/21 8.2 Point and Interval Estimates Definition (Point Estimate) The value of a sample statistic used to estimate a population parameter. Definition (Point Estimation) The procedure use a point estimate to estimate a population parameter.
