Unformatted text preview: EECS 70B Spring 2011 Midterm Review Questions 1. Consider the following diode logic circuit. The inputs at A, B, and C are either HIGH or LOW based on 0-5V logic level. Find Vy and the logic function (Y) at the output in terms of the inputs A, B and C. Use the ON/OFF model for the diode and Vf of 0.7V. R=10k Ohm B A C Y 2.(a) Find Vo for the following diode circuit (R1=1k and R2=1k , V f =0.7V for the diode). (b) Find Vo if the current source is changed from 10 mA to 0.5mA. (c) Find the minimum value for R2 such that the diode will stay ON. 10mA _ + Vout R2 R1 3. A solar cell is modeled by a diode in parallel with a current source (I o ) as shown below. The magnitude of I o is proportional to the intensity of the solar illumination. The solar cell is connected to a load having a resistance of R L . Use the abrupt ON/OFF model with V f =0.7V for the diode to calculate D1 Io Io D2 RL 1k (a) I L and V L for I o =0.5mA (5 pts) (b) I L and V L for I o =5mA (5 pts) (c) For I L at 5mA, find RL that will deliver the maximum power to the load.at 5mA, find RL that will deliver the maximum power to the load....
