Nancy Shaba W.S 1010 10/06/11 Extra Credit: The Help I saw The Help a few weeks ago with a group of friends. It made a huge impact on everyone in our group. There was hardly anyone who had not shed a tear and I was happy to see it again a few days ago. The Help is based on a book written by Kathryn Stockett. The setting is in Jackson, Mississipi in 1963. The movie follows the lives of a woman named Skeeter and two black maids, Aibileen and Minny, who take care of families of young women in their early 20’s. Skeeter is a young white woman who moved back home after graduating from college. She is not interested in getting married or having kids like most of the other women of that time; she just wants to be a writer! People that were not white were discriminated against and slavery was still common. Aibileen Clark is one of the two maids in the movie. She is very sweet and recently lost her son. The other maid is Minny Jackson. Most of the white people do not like
