Nancy Shaba Com 1010-Millard 10/11/11 There are a few inventions that I think kind of rock the world. The telephone would be in there, right? I think about that every time I call someone. There are just 7 digits, and then you’re talking to somebody. The light bulb would have to be there. Of course, the computer, look at how our world has changed since the computer. And then there are a couple of guys in their twenties who launched YouTube! And then it just exploded, virtually exploded. Before the launch of YouTube in 2005, there were few easy methods available for ordinary computer users who wanted to post videos online. With its simple interface, YouTube made it possible for anyone with an Internet connection to post a video that a worldwide audience could watch within a few minutes. Over 200 million videos are watched on YouTube every single day. When Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawad Karim founded YouTube in 2005 there is no way they could have predicted that they would change the world as we know it in six short years. YouTube has revolutionized everything from entertainment to education, opened new doors for talented individuals looking to be discovered, and brought people together from all over the globe. How has YouTube changed your world? I’ll start by telling you a little about YouTube. YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley , Steve Chen , and Jawed Karim , who were all employees of PayPal . Hurley had studied design at Indiana University of Pennsylvania , while Chen and Karim studied computer science together at the University of Illinois . Hurley and Chen developed the idea for YouTube during the early months of 2005 after they experienced difficulty sharing videos that had been shot at a dinner party at Chen's apartment in San Francisco .
