History in the Headlines Thursday 10 November 2011, 10.00am-3.30pm, King’s College London This free (H&P) workshop aims to give historians: Greater confidence to communicate their work through the media; A flavour of how different media work, journalists’ needs and deadlines; Top-tips for dealing with the media and troubleshooting past experiences; An understanding of press officers' role and how to work with them. History in the Headlines will give you an insight into a wide variety of media, help you understand what makes a story and how you can engage more effectively with journalists. It is designed to complement, but not replace, formal media training. Confirmed speakers include: Chris Bowlby , history and current affairs presenter and producer, BBC Radio 4 Michael Crick , Political Correspondent, Channel 4 News Melanie Fall , producer, Chimerica Media ( The Ascent of Money , Civilisation ) Melanie Hide , Head of Communications, The National Archives
