November 14, 2008 Representative Joyce McDonald 425B Legislative Building PO Box 40600 Olympia, WA 98504-0600 Dear Representative Joyce McDonald, I sat to pen this letter to you to share some thoughts on ‘EHB 1214’regarding the use of electronic wireless communications devices for text messaging while operating a moving motor vehicle. Even though this bill ban texting while driving it didn’t enforce a fair punishment to the people who violate this rule. Texting while driving is considered as a traffic violation but this violation doesn’t go in the person’s driving record and the employers and insurance companies receive no information about the incident. Why? Texting while driving is a very dangerous action, it has lead to tons of accidents especially in the case of teenagers. They are tomorrow’s citizens. Their safety should be assured through all the ways possible. This traffic violation only requires them to pay a small amount of money for the violation and it doesn’t even affect them in a bad way.
