Why the fries taste good: Quote #1: ‘Today the typical American eats about forty-nine pounds of fresh potatoes every year- and more than thirty pounds of frozen French fries’[pg #115]. In 1960, the typical American only consumed about four pounds of frozen French fries. Day by day the increase in consuming French fries is growing because the fast food restaurants use different flavors that can capture the people. When people taste them once, they have a tendency to have more and more which the restaurants are taking advantage off. Quote #2: ‘At Burger king, Wendy’s, and McDonalds, coloring agents have been added to many of the soft drinks, salad dressings, cookies, condiments, chicken dishes and sandwich buns’ [pg #125]. The main objective of adding coloring agents to the foods are that the restaurant officials have an assumption that the people especially kids like colors. When they add bright colors to the foods kids are attracted to the colors and want to buy them. Quote #3: ‘Wendy’s Grilled Chicken sandwich, for example contains beef extracts’ [pg #128]. This quote shows how in a chicken sandwich beef extracts are added. Most of the common people are unaware of these truths. They believe in the restaurants blindly and take whatever
