Hypothesis: If changing the rope length, the bob mass and the amplitude, then the pendulum one at a time will have an effect on the pendulum period because when changing the three things about the pendulum one at a time, the pendulum will affect the time period by being slow or fast. Variables IV: rope length, bob mass, amplitude DV: period of pendulum Control: mass, angle, length (one at a time) Procedure: 1. Use a ring stand and hang the 200-g mass from two strings. Attach the strings to a horizontal rod about 10 cm apart. The pendulum length should be at least 100 cm. 2. Attach the Photogate to the second ring stand. 3. Start the Datamate program using a calculator 4. Determine how the period depends on amplitude, Use a range of amplitudes, from 35º to 30º 5. Determine how the period depends on rope length; use the 200-g mass and a consistent amplitude of 10º for each trial. Vary the pendulum length in steps of 10
