Worked as a Pullman porter, and saved enough to buy a farmstead in Gregory,south Dakota, which he works for nearly ten years, until 1913. Birth of a Nation (1915) D.W. Griffith film about slavery, the civil war, and its aftermath, focusing on the heroic efforts of the Ku Klux Klan to make sure that African Americans do not threaten whole privilege and white supremecy in the aftermath of the civil war and the emancipation proclamation. Birth of a race (1918) Made by John W. Noble with assistance of Booker T.Washingtons associates at the Tuskegee Institute. The film is a failure: it’s a long plodding look at the history of the world.
