Motivation, Performance,  and Commitment Performance = Motivation × Ability.  Skill and technology contribute to ability. Commitment is an extension of  motivation. Gaining commitment is important  because about 70% of Americans are  not fully engaged in their work.

Maslow’s Need Hierarchy Needs are arranged into a pyramid: 1. Physiological needs (the most basic) 2. Safety needs (avoid injury) 3. Social needs (love and belonging) 4. Esteem needs (get respect) 5. Self-actualization (reach potential) First two levels must be satisfied first.
