World View Analysis
In healthcare there are various of patients with different backgrounds, and religions.
Nursing is an interesting profession in which nurses get to care and treat these patients, and
promote health and wellness. In order to care for these individuals, nurses should understand
their background, and beliefs to provide holistic care. Healthcare workers should look into their
own worldview, and understand how worldview can influence daily lives.
Christian and postmodern relativism perspectives
Spirituality can be difficult to define, mainly because people have different perspectives
of what spirituality means to them. Spirituality can be explained by one’s own personal beliefs,
purpose, values, what they deem as scared, and holy (Sheldrake, 2016). One’s spirituality can be
expressed in religious, and non-religious ways depending on their own beliefs. The Christian
perspective is mainly based on Theism, meaning they believe in one powerful creator of life,
God (Bogue, & Hogan, 2020). Christianity has their own God, and is worshiped through what is
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, or in another term the Trinity (Bogue, et al., 2020). The
Christian faith is taught through the sacred readings of the Bible, and also the spiritual traditions
are from these readings and through the gospels (Sheldrake, 2016).
Postmodern relativism can be defined as a “broad philosophical view that denies that one
can have objective knowledge or truth about the world”, and relativism as “anything called
‘truth’ will simply be a matter of subjective preference” (Bogue, et al., 2020, para. 163). In
