Acct 616 Accounting Theory & Practice III Spring 2012 Course Objectives: (1) Coverage of financial accounting issues related to business combinations. (2) Coverage of financial accounting issues related to foreign currency transactions and translations. (3) Coverage of financial accounting for state and local governments. Course Structure: The course will require students to use their background in financial accounting as a foundation for an active hands on engagement in solving problems and cases, linking complex accounting procedures to the theory and reasoning behind the procedures. The course will focus on active student participation in problem solving. Course Materials: Hoyle, Schaefer & Doupnik, Advanced Accounting, 10 th Edition (2011). Any 10 th edition will work, but the bookstore should have a special black & white version, ISBN 9781121384033 which comes in two volumes and is less expensive.
