PMC 610: Project Planning and Estimating Credits: 3 Pre-requisites or Co-requisites: None Overview of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management This course is one of four courses offered as part of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management Program: PMC610 Project Planning and Estimating PMC620 Project Schedule, Risks, and Contracts PMC630 Project Change Management PMC640 Managing Enterprise Projects Graduate students who successfully complete all four courses will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Project Management. These courses and the award of the certificate will be reflected on the student’s transcript. If a student desires to continue his/her study in the Masters of Project Management Degree Program after completing the certificate program, and the student meets the admission requirements for that program, the student may be given credit for the courses of the certificate program. The credit may be toward one, or two, of the core courses of the master’s degree program, depending on the circumstances, and at the discretion of the Program Director. Course Outline Module 1 - Project Initiation Module 2 – Project Planning Module 3 - Project Estimating Course Objectives: Students will develop an understanding of the following key concepts at the completion of this course: What is a project Project management discipline and its importance for organizations Issues and concepts involved in the initiation phase of developing a project Interpretation of the client objectives Role of historical data in planning the project Develop a methodical estimate of the project resources Calculate a total cost for the project Course Textbooks and Materials: Required Integrated Project Planning, by P. Rad and V. Anantatmula, PME, 2009 Other reading material that are included with, or referenced in, the learning modules.
