-FBP is an activator of PFK -high [glucose] in liver = high F6P = activation of that enzyme that makes FBP -Feed forward regulation of PFK activity -Reverses inhibition by ATP and restores hyperbolic kinetics Fructose bisphosphatealdolase catalyzes a ring reaction, products aredihydroxyacetone phosphate and glyceraldehydes-3-phosphate -Cleaves between C3 and C4, producing 2 triose phosphates -endergonic reaction, but close to equilibrium at physiological concentrations of reactions Triose phosphate isomerase interconverts DHAP and G-3P -endergonic Phase I has negative G under cellular conditions, so goes in the forward direction Know the sequence of reactions and enzymes that catalyze them (no structures necessary) 1. Glucose. Glucose-6-phosphate (G6P) -Hexokinase or glucokinase -ATP used 2. Glucose-6-phosphate. Fructose-6-phosphate (F6P) -Phosphoglucoisomerase 3. Fructose-6-phosphate (F-6-P). Fructose-1,6-biphosphate (FBP) -Phosphofructokinase -ATP used 4. Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (FBP) (a) dihhydroxyacetone (DHAP) or (b) glyceralydehyde-3- phosphate (G3P) -Fructose bisphosphatealdolase
