2 The Impacts of Social Media on the American Culture One of the most significant changes that has been brought by internet is social media. Almost every American citizen uses one social media platform or another on regular basis which has had a great impact on the American culture. Some of the social media platforms that are commonly used include Face Book, You Tube, Instagram, and Twitter among others. This paper seeks to discuss the impact that social media use has had on the American Culture, mainly focusing on the impacts on the American culture. Background This section gives an overview of the situation that is underlying based on the cause- effect relationship between social media use and the American culture. The American culture refers to the way of life of the American citizens and in as far as social media use is concerned, both positive and negative effects have been generated (Akram & Kumar, 2017). This implies that the use of social media has varied effects where based on the experience derived, some people may be impacted positively and others negatively. These outcomes will be discussed extensively in the two sections that follow where arguments will be given on how the use of social media have affected the American culture. Therefore, having given an overview of the situation that is underlying, the next part will discuss the first where the positive impact generated will be discussed. Positive Impacts of Social Media Use on the American Culture At first, social media has changed the way in which people connect by providing a platform where people can connect and interact with ease. Through various social media platforms that exist such as Facebook, individuals are now able to connect with ease. Social media has changed the way people creates and maintain social relationships where it is now
