EE 3120 Linear Systems Analysis Chapter 2 Lecture 1 Systems Systems exist all around us, in many different forms. Some systems include: Transducer – transform signals from one form to another (voltage to acoustic) Filter – remove noise or undesired frequencies from signals amplifier – increase or decrease amplitude of a signal motors, generators, modulator, demodulator, mixer In EE 3120 systems will be modeled as a “black box”. The black box system will have at least one input terminal and one output terminal. A signal can be applied or measured at any terminal. The contents or structure of the black box may or may not be known. Even if it is known we will not use this information. This is reserved for other courses. We will concern ourselves with the input and output terminals only
