emphasizing upon the respiratory system. Fish breathe oxygen by passing water through gills located outside of the throat. The water is then filtered while oxygen is being absorbed and carbon dioxide is being excreted (Hamilton, 2010). The water then passes out of the fish through the operculum (Hamilton, 2010). This process is repeated every time fish breathe making it subject to being affected by the environment. Our hypothesis: A lowering in water temperature will cause a lowering in the amount of breaths taken by fish. II
