DF16 o no bearing correction if the overlying layer is stronger than the bearing layer o if DA < Dc and overlying layer is weakerthan the bearing layer t then the unit bearing is interpolated as follows: q = qlC + ~: (qT - q ld where q = corrected unit end bearing at pile tip qLC = unit end bearing at layer change qT = uncorrected unit end bearing at pile tip DA = actual embedment in bearing layer Dc = critical depth of embedment o side shear is calculated for each N value and integrated along the length of the pile o side shear in bearing layer is corrected when the overlying layer is weaker o if D A < Dc and overlying layer is weaker than bearing layer then the side shear (force) is corrected as follows: SFBL[ DA ] CSFBL=-- qlC +-(qr-qLd qr 2Dc where CSFBL = corrected side shear (force) in the bearing layer SFBL = uncorrected side shear (force) in the bearing layer qTt qLCt OAt Dc as previously defined o if D A ~ Dc and overlying layer is weaker than bearing layer then the side shear
