Tuccelli/ASL Assignment I truly enjoyed the presentation by Dr. Tuccelli. Although there were many explicit facts that he showcased in his powerpoint that I found intriguing, it was the way he spoke, interacted with the students, and carried himself that caught my attention and taught me a few lessons. The first thing I noticed was Dr. Tuccelli’s speech. I have never met or spoke to a deaf person in my life, but I found his diction to be not only understandable, but also impressive for someone who cannot hear any sounds without his cochlear implant. Speaking of which, I think that modern science and medicine is making leaps and bounds that help disabled individuals around the world – especially the hard of hearing. Even though Tuccelli said that deaf people look at him differently and may not “accept” him as much because of the implant, it is remarkable how such a device can help him interact with other non-hearing disabled people much more than he would without it. Another facet of Dr. Tuccelli’s presentation that I enjoyed was his sense of humor
