Note: PIN codes set up during Proficiency testing may not be used for course enrollment! Also, PIN codes older than one year old will no longer be active. Required Materials: Data disks with labels , 8 ½” x 11” clasp envelopes Prerequisite: CIS 150 with a grade of C or higher (or placement by exam) Note: any student not meeting this prerequisite will be administratively withdrawn from the course. Goals: This course provides continuing coverage of advanced office technologies, including WWW, web page development, presentations development, and database development. Course Objectives: At the conclusion of the semester, the students should be able to: 1) Identify and use the Microsoft Office common commands 2) Evaluate Internet Resources for their reliability and usefulness 3) Develop a web site using fundamentals of Internet publishing 4) Explain the necessary elements of an effective presentation 5) Build and demonstrate a graphics based electronic presentation 6) List the basic concepts involved in a database 7) Create and use a table structure in a Relational database 8) Manipulate and sort data in a database table 9) Explain the concept and need for Referential Integrity and how it is implemented in the relationships between tables 10) Retrieve data from the database tables in various output formats through the use of queries and reports Policies: 1) Attendance: Full attendance is expected and required. Cases of illness or emergencies that make it impossible to attend class should be reported to your Instructor as soon as possible. Excessive unexcused absences may lower your grade or result in failure of the course. It is the responsibility of the student to notify the Instructor when she/he will be absent or within 24 hours of the missed class if the absence was unforeseeable. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain all class material and notes from any missed classes. Missing a class when assignments are due does not reduce the late assignment penalty.
