Chapter 12 WebLab#1 “Spring Pendulum” * Go to the following website: http://www.walter-fendt.de/ph14e/springpendulum.htm * Carefully read the instructions, then scroll down to the animation. * Push “Start” to view the vertical oscillation of the mass on a spring. The elongation of the spring is graphed. * Select “Velocity” to see how the velocity of the mass varies with time. * Select “Acceleration” to see how the acceleration of the mass varies with time. * Select “Force” to see how the net force acting on the mass varies with time. * Select “Energy” to see how the kinetic energy and the elastic potential energy of the mass varies with time. * Type in a new, larger value for the spring constant and then press enter . Select the appropriate buttons to view how increasing the spring constant changes the velocity, acceleration, force, and energy. Repeat with a smaller value of the spring constant. * Repeat with larger and smaller values of the object mass and amplitude.
