DNS Servers When you type in, for instance   ftp://tracer.cs.washington.edu/    how does your computer know  how to find that server ? We usually don’t type in IP  addresses directly. Asks DNS server “what is the ip address for spiff.cs.washington.edu?” finds the proper IP address for spiff.cs……
