To: Acct 2001 Students From: Acct 2001 Instructors Re: Accounting Cycle Project (Phase I) On October 1, 2009, Dee Dee Dodson launched an interior design company called Dee Dee’s Designs, which is organized as a corporation and provides interior design services. Dee Dee adopts the calendar year for reporting purposes and expects to prepare the company’s first set of financial statements on December 31, 2009. The chart of accounts for its accounting system is included on the following page. Workpapers have been provided in an additional excel worksheet. Requirements: 1) Prepare journal entries to record each transaction for Dee Dee’s Designs. (A general journal is provided. Multiple pages will be needed.) 2) Open ledger accounts (t-accounts) and post the journal entries from requirement 1. 3) Prepare an unadjusted trial balance as of December 31, 2009. 4) Prepare all necessary adjusting entries. Post these entries to the accounts in the ledger. 5) Prepare an adjusted trial balance as of December 31, 2009. 6) Prepare an income statement for the three months ended December 31, 2009 7) Prepare a statement of retained earnings for the three months ended December 31, 2009. 8) Prepare a balance sheet as of December 31, 2009. 9)
