Purpose: The purpose of this project is to apply image filters on a Blackfin processor to obtain distortion correction and edge highlighting. Distortion correction entails using the Blackfin to normalize and clarify an otherwise incomprehensive image, and edge highlighting uses a Sobel filter to locate edges and emphasize them. As an additional section of this project the filters are conducted between two Blackfins, showcasing board to board communication. Procedure and Problems: The procedure for the project is as follows: 1. “Transmit” board loads image, conducts histogram and common distribution (CDF) filters to resolve basic clarification. 2. “Transmit” board conducts median, then low pass filters. To blur edges and remove noise. 3. “Transmit” board sends the filtered image to the “Receive” board by placing the image’s pixels on tx_buffer. 4.
