LeAnna Easterday Psy 210 Dr. Henning TTP/QQTP 6 Chapter 12 Theory-to-Practice 1. Description: I am a studier. I study in all my classes, I study for work. I don’t know why I am motivated to do anything and everything well in life, but I seem to be. Currently I am taking a class that is far below the standard for good classes. None of the students enjoy the class, and you can tell the Professor doesn’t relish the sessions either. Even so, I do all the homework, I study for every quiz and test, and I had an A at midterm. My husband, Brian, is also taking the class. He is one of the students who dislike class the most. Today we had an assignment due and a quiz. I completed the assignment and studied, he did not. 2. Reaction: [please not that Brian is SUPER smart and motivated in other areas, just not this one] Because everyone (or everyone who chooses to verbalize their feelings about the class) has a strong disliking of it, I am not surprised by Brian’s reaction. He wants to get good grades, but his need for purpose surpasses that in this case. I, on the other hand, seem to be much more motivated for good grades. Even so, I want to do well and I am motivated to prove something to the teacher- that even if he isn’t a skilled instructor I can still learn. (I hope that doesn’t sound harsh, but it’s truthful.) It’s been an emotional semester so far because Brian feels defeated by the frustratingly boring and confusing class periods. Sometimes I get frustrated and my emotions take over, but most of the time my frustrations just drive me forward. 3.
