Chap 6 Name the 5 standards to meet in the selection process 233: 1. Reliability, 2. Validity 3. Generalizability 4. Utility 5. Legality Reliability 233: Consistency of a performance measure; degree to which a performance measure is free from random error. Validity 237: Extent to which a performance measure assesses all the relevant-and only the relevant-aspects of job performance Criterion-related validity 237: method of establishing the validity of a personnel selection method by showing a substantial correlation between test scores and job-performance scores. Predictive validation 237: criterion-related validity study that seeks to establish empirical relationship between applicants’ test scores and their eventual performance on the job. Concurrent validation 237: criterion-related validity study where test administered to all the people currently in a job then incumbents’ scores are correlated with existing measures of their performance on the job. (problem- leads to too much of the same. Can be discriminatory if all control group is the same type of person)
