The Day It All Started I look back to when I first started the sport that I’ve grown to love over the years and can’t help but think of my first summer of water polo. It was the summer before entering the sixth grade. Picking up water polo meant dropping basketball, which was my favorite sport at that time in my life. Water polo offered to kids my age only occurred in the summer and winter, and the winter league conflicted with basketball season. I debated choosing the summer league for water polo, and sticking with basketball, but I took the risk of playing water polo both seasons. I thought ahead to high school and I wanted to follow in my brother’s footsteps. He was a high school water polo player, so I would be one too. My love for the game has shaped my life. I have made friendships that will exist forever. Though my friends from high school and I have split ways, we still stay in contact. While I will always remember those friends, I have joined a new team, and made even more friends. My
