Q uestions regarding the SEC Edgar website The Best Buy and Circuit City reports can be downloaded from the SEC’s Edgar website, http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/webusers.htm . There are several search engines on this website that you can use. To use the “full text search”, In this case, click on the link for “Full Text Search” and then click the link for “Advanced Search”. Enter the company name on the appropriate line and enter the appropriate form (10-K or 10-Q) in the tab labeled “In Form Type”. Alternatively, you could click on the link for “Companies and other Filers”. This brings you to a page titled “Edgar Company Search”. Enter either the company name or ticker symbol or CIK number. Note: if you only have the company name, you may get several companies from your search. Once you reach the appropriate company website on Edgar, you can narrow your search by entering the appropriate form (10-K or 10-Q) in the box labeled “Form Type” on the upper right hand part of the page. Q1.1. What is the company’s Standard Industry Classification (SIC) Code for Best Buy and Circuit City? Q1.2. What is the purpose of a company’s SIC code? Hint: look it up on Wikipedia. Q1.3.
