MIS 235 Fall 2010 Pivot Tables and Charts Objectives: Continue to practice with SQL and Oracle Better understand the role of data in business decision-making Build pivot tables and pivot charts to facilitate business decision-making Description Use the Northwinds Data Model in Oracle to answer to perform the tasks below. Your work should incorporate the following: 1. Use SQL to query Northwinds to find the necessary data to answer the question. (Hint: You may wish to reset Preferences, “Set Systems Variables,” “Page Size” to a high number like 5,000 to avoid repeated column headings in SQL output.) 2. Port that data (using cut and paste) to Excel to build a pivot table. This table should include all data needed to provide the necessary insight to answer the questions. (Hint: I find it easiest to put each pivot table in a separate worksheet tab.) 3. Create a pivot chart to display the appropriate data. Northwinds Data Model
