(Actual Steps) Step 1: Write the SQL statement select CompanyName, to_char(orderdate,'MM/DD/YYYY') as OrdDate, sum(od.UnitPrice*quantity) as revenue from mis235.orderdetails od, mis235.orders o, mis235.suppliers s, mis235.products p where p.productid = od.productid and od.orderid = o.orderid and s.supplierid = p.supplierid group by companyname,orderdate Step 2: Copy and paste the result into Excel (Use PasteSpecial and Unicode Text if using Firefox). Please make sure you have set the Preferences for Page Size to 5000 under system settings. Re execute and then copy. Step 3. Make the data into a table 1. Insert Table (Excel 2007) 2. Insert List (Excel 2008) If using Office 2004 on Mac, convert the date field to a date – Use this only if you cannot get the date to group as in Step 5 Create a new column say NewDate =dateValue(OldDate) and format as Date. Use this new column in the pivot table (Hide the oldDate).
