Graph Identification This problem to be completed individually. For each of the following functions, write the letter of the graphs shown below that best represents the shape of that function and the Matlab command ( plot , semilogy , semilogx , or loglog ) that would generate a plot of the same function to make it appear linear. The origin of each graph given below is in the lower left of the graph window except for Graph A. In each case, x is independent, y is dependent, and constants K, L, V, W, g may be positive or negative. ENGR 12600 Fall 2008 For each of the following relationships, identify what type of relationship you would expect (linear, exponential, etc) and draw a rough sketch of the relationship. For each, give a brief (one sentence) explanation for your choice. i. The temperature of batch process aluminum, with respect to time, as it cools from 700°C to 22°C ii. The volume of fluid in a tank, with respect to time, as it is filled by a pipe with uniform flow. iii. The number of bacterial cells, with respect to time, in a growing colony. iv. Diameter of a balloon being filled with respect to volume of non-compressible gas. v. Distance traveled by a car, with respect to time, decelerating (braking) at a constant rate. Deliverable: Answers to above questions. 4. Digital Image Processing This problem to be completed as a team. Image processing has many important uses. One critical use is the rapid processing of facial images to identify a child who may have been taken from a parent in a theme park. In this homework, your team will write a main program and three functions that process an image different ways, using functions written by different members of the team.
