Unformatted text preview: ECE 202H Spring 2011 Project #4: Filtering Due: 3 May 2011 at 5:00 PM (Submit to MSEE 330 or MSEE 362) (50 Points) Complete the following assignment on an individual basis, and submit your result as a report (please include a title page with your name). Your total submission should be less than 10 pages, possibly double-sided. (Up to 15 points will be deducted at a rate of 5 points per submitted page beyond 10.) The Assignment Speech is a complex acoustic signal that exploits much of the audible range of frequencies (20-20,000 Hz). One of the most salient features of speech, as produced by an individual speaker, is the fundamental frequency (F0). F0 varies across individuals, providing the perception of a different pitch for each individual. A typical range for pitch is from 50-300 Hz. As a general rule, male speakers exhibit a lower F0 than do female speakers, and F0 tends to drop with age.
