You can never expect the same rights or freedom that others receive because you’re most likely not going to get it. Overall, the quote is basically saying that freedom has to be fought for. It will not be given to no one, so therefore, everyone must fight for it. As human beings, we’re all free and equal, but in the real world we need to struggle in order to gain and secure our civic freedoms. One example that I actually experienced myself was when I had to fight for the right pay. So over the summer I was making $7.50, which was how much a bagger made, while I was a cashier.
