27) Using your knowledge of the regulation of the mammalian reproductive systems and two other substantive endocrine systems, defend the hypothesis that the nervous s6ystem controls many aspects of the endocrine system function via feedback processes. Feedback- links response to initial stimulus Negative feedback- “the effector response reduce the initial stimulus, and eventually the response ceases” (Campbell and reece) Positive feedback- “reinforces the stimulus and leads to an even greater response “(cn) Nervous system- hypothalamus regulates release of releasing factors by anterior pituitary Anterior pituitary regulated by tropic horomones made by neurosecretory cells in hypothalamus- somestimulate the anterior pituitary to release hormones and others inhibit hormone secretion Male Reproductive System- feedback endocrine control 1. hypothalamic nerve cells release GnRH from median eminence into portal blood which carries it to the anterior pituitary 2. GnRH stimulates the release of gonadotropins (stimulate function of male and female gonads) FSH and LH into the circulatory system by which they are carried to the testis
