It is also sometimes referred to as a coke, a fizzy drink, tonic, or a carbonated beverage. All soft drinks are non-alcoholic vs. a hard-drinks which contain alcoholic. There are over 100 different companies that make up the United States soft drink industry, and 89% of the market is controlled by the top three companies, The Coca-Cola Company, NYSE:KO; PepsiCo, Inc., NYSE:PEP; Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc., NYSE:DPS. All three companies are publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. The Coca-Cola Company has 25 different brands which make up 133 different varieties, as of 2008, The Coca-Cola Company holds 42.8% of the market.
